Smith Maran Architecture + Interiors llc originated in a Columbia University classroom when architecture was defined, paradoxically, by both a nostalgia for historic forms and the emergence of computer modeling.  Respectful of the past and stirred by the needs of the present, classmates Erik Maran and Ira Smith discovered their mutual drive to create authentic places designed for the human experience, to enrich the lives of those who work, venture and dwell there.    

 

Three decades later, Smith Maran deploys an encyclopedic knowledge of art and architecture in order to create fitting and enduring destinations for a wide range of clients.  We are modernists with a long view - classic humanists energized by tomorrow.
